Many people joining our project, or just trying out the devkit, are having problems with using Visual Studio Team Explorer with Codeplex. Here are some tips which should get you going.
Codeplex started using Team Foundation Server 2010 a while ago. As Cosmos is still using Visual Studio 2008, this means that you will need to install the Forward Compatibility Pack for TFS 2010. But because of how Visual Studio is organized, this gives some problems. Below are some issues people are having. This list might get updated.
When trying to install the Forward Compatibility Pack, it tells the Components to be updated aren't installed
Please reinstall Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1. You probably did not have Team Explorer installed when you installed Service Pack 1, so the Team Explorer didn't get
updated as well. After installing Service Pack 1 again, you should be able to install the Forward Compatibility Pack.
When using the server name as specified by Codeplex, I get an error
Using the Forward Compatibility Pack, you need to provide the full TFS url. For cosmos this is:
https://tfs.codeplex.com:443/tfs/TFS04
